In search of the cause of your disease

It is important for us to measure and understand the nature and severity of the actual symptoms, as we have learned that these can vary greatly from patient to patient.

Case study from our practice

Newly manifested diabetes

Therapy adjustment after side effects

Case study SOC+

The 62-year-old female patient VLT was first presented by her GP in 2010 with an HbA1c of 10.2%.

With a height of 175 cm and a weight of 94 kg, she had a BMI of 30.7 kg/m². The initial therapy with metformin 500 mg led to gastrointestinal side effects, so treatment was switched to glimepiride 3 mg.

Diabetic foot syndrome

When amputation becomes unavoidable

Case study RePair

56-year-old K.W. has been living with type 1 diabetes for over 40 years and suffers from severe diabetic foot syndrome.

Due to a complete occlusion of the fibular artery, a foot ulcer on her left leg is not healing. Despite the measures taken so far, there is no alternative: the doctors have already given the indication for an amputation below the ankle joint.

Flight ban due to insulin?

The case of a pilot with type 2 diabetes

Case study ReNew

A pilot has been living with type 2 diabetes for four years and is currently being treated with metformin and glimepiride.

His HbA1c is 7.3% and his BMI is 26.4 kg/m². Due to his metabolic situation, the aviation medical service is planning to introduce basal insulin therapy. However, this measure would have serious professional consequences, as it would result in a ban on flying.

Diabetes and kidney function

When dialysis becomes unavoidable

Case study ReStore

75-year-old B.B. has been suffering from type 2 diabetes with progressive renal insufficiency for 20 years.

Following an apoplexy in 2018 and pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, his GFR deteriorated rapidly from 39 to 25 mL/min in 2019. A cardiovascular collapse over Christmas further accelerated the development. The doctors believe that dialysis will soon be necessary.
